My husband and I moved to Hastings 25 years ago to start our business and raise our family.  Today, our business continues to grow. We have two boys in college, both graduated from Hastings High School, and one daughter in middle school and one daughter at Pine Harbor Christian Academy.

Recently, I was made aware of the number of students leaving District 200 for schools in other districts and the low percentage of students at grade level in reading (53%), math (50%), and science (43%). These were not the statistics that created one of the top school districts in the state 25 years ago when my husband and I moved to this community.

I realized I too was actively looking for another option for our girls to attend; making us yet another family sending their kids outside of this district. My choice was to continue my search or change my focus. My choice was to change focus and put my energy back into this district that served my boys so well and back into this community we love and call home. I want to do all I can to help District 200 become the best it can be. We need to rally for our children, our teachers and our community. Let’s reclaim our district from this devastating decline and restore excellence!
